Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon, Naju-Gwangju Metropolitan Railway Network Included in National Plan
Expectations for Improved Living Conditions through Naju Innovation City Route
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The metropolitan railway project between Naju and Gwangju has been included in the '4th National Railway Network Construction Plan.'
According to Shin Jeong-hoon, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea (Jeonnam Naju-Hwasun), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport held a public hearing on the 22nd to gather opinions on the '4th National Railway Network Construction Plan (draft)' and incorporated the Naju-Gwangju metropolitan railway into the government plan.
According to the 4th railway network plan, the Naju-Gwangju line, where the metropolitan railway will be expanded, covers a total distance of 27.6 km passing through Gwangju Sangmu Station, Nampyeong, and Naju Station in the Innovation City, reducing travel time from 81 minutes to 33 minutes.
Although there are transportation options such as intercity buses in this section, the long intervals between services have caused inconvenience, forcing people to rely on private cars. This project is expected to resolve these inconveniences.
In particular, the Naju-Gwangju metropolitan railway, running from Gwangju Sangmu Station through Naju Innovation City to Naju Station, is expected to play a significant role in improving residential conditions in the Innovation City.
Assemblyman Shin plans to closely cooperate with Jeonnam Province, Gwangju City, Naju City, and National Assembly members from the Gwangju area to expedite the early promotion of the Naju-Gwangju metropolitan railway project included in the 4th National Railway Network Construction Plan (draft).
Assemblyman Shin, along with Jo O-seop, a member of the National Assembly from the Democratic Party of Korea (Gwangju Buk-gu Gap) and member of the National Assembly Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, continues consultations for the construction of the Honam region metropolitan railway network, including holding a win-win meeting among Gwangju City, Jeonnam Province, Naju City, and Hwasun County.
Assemblyman Shin Jeong-hoon stated, "Expanding the metropolitan transportation network is the path to regional balanced development and growth," adding, "I will do my best until the end to have the metropolitan railway network between Gwangju and Hwasun additionally included in the national plan."
