Gwangju Chamber of Commerce, Opening of the 6th Gwangju Employment Expert Academy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 22nd that it opened the ‘6th Gwangju Employment Experts Academy’ at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center.
About 60 people attended the event, including local job policy and employment support agency officials, and corporate HR and labor managers.
The Gwangju Employment Experts Academy is part of the Gwangju regional employment innovation project hosted by Gwangju Metropolitan City and the Gwangju Regional Labor Office. It aims to strengthen the capabilities of employment service personnel through theoretical learning and case sharing on the current employment labor market and job policies, and to improve the employment rate in the region by providing better employment services.
Now in its 6th year, the ‘Gwangju Employment Experts Academy’ has produced over 270 local employment experts so far, and about 60 people wished to participate in this 6th session.
The curriculum consists of a total of 9 monthly sessions until December, covering various job-related topics such as employment policies and current issues, job changes due to industrial development, employment support measures for vulnerable groups, and vocational training innovation plans.
In the lecture on ‘Central-linked Regional Industry Job Strategy to Overcome the Employment Crisis in the COVID-19 Era,’ Professor Yoon Dong-yeol of Konkuk University’s Department of Business Administration emphasized, “As digital transformation accelerates, the industrial structure is undergoing revolutionary changes,” adding, “To respond to this, it is necessary to strengthen job transition and reemployment support in fields requiring core talent development and job shifts in digital, green new deal, and new technology sectors.”

Chae Hwa-seok, Executive Director of Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, “As employment services continue to expand recently as part of the government’s ‘income-led growth policy,’ the role of the academy in broadening understanding of industry, economy, and the employment market is becoming increasingly important,” and added, “We will actively support local employment experts who are greatly contributing to job expansion on the ground so that they can fully demonstrate their abilities and achieve good results.”
