Accomplice of Nth Room 'GodGod', An Seung-jin, Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison on Appeal
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The accomplices of 'GodGod' Moon Hyeong-wook, the operator of the Telegram 'Nth Room,' were also sentenced to heavy prison terms in the appellate trial.
On the 22nd, the Criminal Division 1-1 of the Daegu High Court (Chief Judge Son Byeong-won) sentenced Ahn Seung-jin and his accomplice Kim, who were indicted for producing and distributing child sexual exploitation materials (violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse), to 10 years and 8 years in prison respectively, the same as the original trial.
They were prosecuted for producing sexual exploitation materials involving more than 10 children and adolescents from April 2015 to January 2016. In particular, Ahn planned to directly produce sexual exploitation materials by threatening Moon Hyeong-wook and three children and adolescents in March 2019. He also distributed 1,048 child and adolescent sexual exploitation materials via the Telegram messenger and possessed over 9,100 such materials.
Kim was charged with producing 423 sexual exploitation materials involving 13 victims including children and adolescents, selling sexual exploitation materials to 16 people, and distributing 210 sexual exploitation materials to 4 people.
On this day, the court stated, "The defendants' crimes trample on human freedom and dignity, and digital sex crimes can be repeated, making them more heinous than conventional sex crimes and requiring severe punishment. Considering this, the original sentences may be light but are not excessively lenient."
