[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Lotte Mart announced that from the 22nd, it will sell 'Label-free Dawn Jujube Cherry Tomatoes' at over 60 stores including Seoul Station, Jamsil, and Seocho branches. The label-free dawn jujube cherry tomatoes reduce waste by removing the label attached to the container and increase recycling efficiency by eliminating the hassle during the separation process, making it an eco-friendly product.
This product is the second label-free container product introduced by Lotte Mart following the label-free bottled water launched in January. This is the first time fruit containers have been switched to label-free packaging. Generally, fruits are sold with labels attached to the outside of the container that display product information such as origin, farm details, and weight for customers.
Lotte Mart currently sells products with easily removable sticker-type labels only on the Sanji Ddukshim and Golden Sweetness products to facilitate label removal during recycling. However, considering that completely removing labels is not easy, they have applied label-free containers. Product information previously provided on labels will now be offered through in-store notices.
Lotte Mart stated, "As customer interest in ethical consumption grows, demand for eco-friendly products is increasing. Considering this trend, we selected tomatoes, a fruit with rising customer demand, as a representative product and simplified the packaging to introduce it." Tomatoes were the best-selling fruit at Lotte Mart this month, with sales from the 1st to the 19th increasing by 77.6% compared to the previous year.
The newly introduced product is a label-free item and is harvested at dawn and sold in stores around 3 p.m. on the same day. With the recent warm weather, dawn harvesting?when temperatures are relatively lower?minimizes softening of the delicate jujube cherry tomatoes during harvest, and Lotte Mart expects customer demand to grow accordingly.
The 'Label-free Dawn Jujube Cherry Tomatoes (1kg·pack)' are sold for 7,980 KRW.
