Chungnam Supports Purchase of Electric Excavators with Up to 20 Million KRW Assistance
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province is launching a subsidy program for the purchase of electric excavators to reduce air pollutants and greenhouse gases.
According to the province on the 21st, the program provides purchase subsidies of 20 million KRW per 3.5-ton unit and 12 million KRW per 1-ton unit when purchasing eco-friendly electric excavators. The total project budget is 900 million KRW.
Eligible recipients for the subsidy include individuals, corporations, businesses, and public institutions with an address in cities or counties within Chungnam Province and a history of residence for a certain period. Supported models can be checked on the Low Emission Vehicle Integrated Information website.
Subsidies can be received after the purchaser signs a purchase contract with the electric excavator manufacturer or importer and submits an electric excavator purchase support application to the relevant city or county office either directly or through the manufacturer/importer.
The province plans to notify applicants of their eligibility within seven days of receiving the application and proceed with support according to subsequent procedures.
For more detailed information regarding the subsidy, refer to the announcements posted on each city or county’s website or contact the environmental department of the respective city or county.

A provincial official stated, “Diesel excavators under 5 tons are mainly used in densely populated areas for urban redevelopment or building remodeling and emit more air pollutants than automobiles. The province will strive to improve local air quality by expanding the distribution of eco-friendly construction machinery to reduce air pollutant emissions.”
