Sejong City Announces 'Citizen Proposal Project' to be Implemented Next Year
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City is calling for citizen proposal projects to be reflected in the '2022 Citizen Participatory Budget.' The application deadline is June 8.
According to the city on the 21st, the citizen participatory budget proposal project is conducted annually to increase transparency and fairness in financial management by involving citizens in the budget formulation process.
The target projects for the call are local issues that can benefit many citizens, and any Sejong citizen can apply. Additionally, members of non-profit organizations active in the region are also eligible to apply.
Applications can be submitted through the Citizen Participatory Budget System website or by visiting the Eup, Myeon, and Dong community service centers.
After the application deadline, the city plans to review the eligibility and feasibility of each proposed project, followed by citizen voting and evaluation by the Citizen Participatory Budget Committee, and finally reflect the selected projects in next year's budget.

Jung Jin-ki, the city's budget officer, said, "The citizen participatory budget is the core of the citizen-led participatory budgeting system where citizens themselves propose innovative and excellent ideas and projects," and added, "We hope for citizens' interest and participation."
