Those who participate in the 'Second Venture Boom Challenge,' which began with Kang Samkwon, President of the Korea Venture Business Association, will have a chance to win prizes such as a Galaxy Watch 3 or a mini dryer through a random drawing.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 20th that the 'Second Venture Boom Challenge,' where participants give a double thumbs-up as a sign of certification, is becoming a hot topic mainly on social media. The 'Second Venture Boom Challenge' is a nationwide campaign aimed at spreading the enthusiasm of venture companies and startups that are achieving all-time high results despite the COVID-19 situation, and at supporting the economic rebound.
The challenge, which started on April 15 with Kang Samkwon, President of the Korea Venture Business Association, was followed by Kwon Chilseung, Minister of SMEs and Startups, and then by Kim Bongjin, Chairman of Woowa Brothers. On April 19, Chairman Kim Bongjin participated and said, "I would like to thank Minister Kwon Chilseung of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups for giving me this opportunity," and nominated Lee Seunggun, CEO of Toss, and Ryu Junwoo, CEO of Bomapp, as the next participants.
In the 'Second Venture Boom Challenge,' the first of the two thumbs-up represents the 'First Venture Boom,' which spread mainly among internet companies in the 2000s, while the other thumb symbolizes the 'Second Venture Boom,' characterized by the recent enthusiasm for ventures and startups.
The method for participating in the Second Venture Boom Challenge is as follows. First, post a photo or video of yourself giving a double thumbs-up-a symbol of the Second Venture Boom-on your personal social media such as Facebook or Instagram, along with a message supporting the Second Venture Boom and Korea’s economic rebound. Next, nominate one or two people to join the challenge. The hashtags to use are '대한민국경제의봄' and '제2벤처붐'.
To promote the 'Second Venture Boom,' the Ministry of SMEs and Startups also produced a symbolic image in collaboration with Kwangjin, the creator of the popular webtoon 'Itaewon Class.' 'Itaewon Class' is a webtoon that gained widespread popularity for its story of young people, united by persistence and defiance, starting businesses in Itaewon and overcoming unfairness through challenge and success in an unreasonable and unjust world.
A representative from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups stated, "We selected Kwangjin, the creator of 'Itaewon Class,' as the designer of the Second Venture Boom image because the keywords of 'challenge' and 'fairness' depicted in the webtoon align well with the values pursued by the Second Venture Boom."
