Gwangju University Selected for 'Content One Campus Construction and Operation Project'... Accelerating Creative Talent Development
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangju University is accelerating efforts to nurture creative talents who will lead innovation in the future content industry.
On the 19th, Gwangju University announced that it has been selected for the ‘2021 Content One Campus Establishment and Operation Project’ organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency for three consecutive years.
This project is an educational cooperation system established to implement innovative industry-academia-research-government collaboration projects, develop convergence content projects, and operate project-based education.
A total of 22 schools, including Gwangju University and Chung-Ang University, were selected for the ‘2021 Content One Campus Establishment and Operation Project,’ which will develop and operate convergence content education programs focused on immersive content projects such as holograms, VR, and AR, along with AI and big data related to the 4th Industrial Revolution.
The Department of Photography, Video, and Drone at Gwangju University will undertake the task of ‘VR Immersive Media and Media Art’ and plans to promote various curricula and projects to nurture creative convergence talents required in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution.
Gwangju University, which was first selected for the ‘Content One Campus Establishment and Operation Project’ in 2019 through a consortium with the Asia Culture Center, unveiled the Asian food culture record content ‘VR COOKBOOK: Kitchens of Asia,’ in which 15 students from the Department of Photography, Video, and Drone directly participated in the entire process.
Additionally, under the theme ‘Kitchens and Food Culture of Asia: The Korean Diaspora and Food,’ the second-year Content One Campus project showcase was held at the Fantasy Lab on the 3rd floor of Hosimgwan on campus. The VR, videos, and photos recorded by 18 students from the Department of Photography, Video, and Drone during visits to the Gwangju Korean diaspora village received great responses from local residents.
In particular, through the ‘2020 Content One Campus Establishment and Operation Project,’ Gwangju University operated two regular courses based on convergence projects (with 53 graduates) and seven non-regular courses (with 184 graduates), achieving results in producing experts in the content field.

Professor Cho Dae-yeon of the Department of Photography, Video, and Drone at Gwangju University said, “Through this project selection, it has become possible to expand content-related education and apply it immediately to practical work,” adding, “We will secure the competitiveness of the regional content industry by nurturing customized, field-oriented, convergence creative talents.”
