Hanwha Q CELLS Participates in Korea's Largest Solar Energy Exhibition
Introduction of Various Products Including Premium, Double-Sided, Floating, and Agricultural Modules
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Q CELLS will participate in the largest solar energy exhibition in Korea to showcase its status as a leader in the solar industry.
Hanwha Q CELLS announced on the 19th that it will participate in the "International Green Energy Expo," held for three days from the 28th to the 30th at EXCO in Daegu Metropolitan City. This exhibition, hosted by Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, is the largest private solar energy exhibition in Korea and is celebrating its 18th edition this year. It is expected that 230 companies will participate and more than 20,000 visitors will attend.
At this expo, Hanwha Q CELLS plans to showcase a variety of portfolios tailored to the domestic market, introducing premium flagship products and next-generation technologies proven in major solar module markets, while dividing the exhibition into zones with customized solutions for each customer. Zones include the Premium Module Zone exhibiting high-output, high-efficiency products; the Bifacial Module Zone with modules capable of additional rear-side power generation; the Floating Solar Zone and Agrivoltaics Zone featuring products specialized for the domestic market; and the Next-Generation Technology Zone.
In the Premium Module Zone, visitors can see the single-sided modules of Q.PEAK DUO G10 and Q.PEAK DUO G11, which will be launched in the first half of this year. The Q.PEAK DUO series, applying Q.ANTUM DUO Z technology to significantly increase output, is a premium product specialized in efficiently utilizing limited space to maximize solar power generation revenue on the same area. The Bifacial Module Zone will exhibit the Q.PEAK DUO G10 BFG and Q.PEAK DUO G11 bifacial modules. These bifacial modules generate power not only from the front but also from the rear, producing up to 20% additional electricity depending on the installation environment.
Products specialized for the domestic market environment, such as floating solar and agrivoltaics, will also be presented to customers. Floating solar power, which leverages Korea’s abundant inland water surfaces, is gaining attention as an efficient way to utilize national land for solar power generation. Hanwha Q CELLS plans to exhibit the prototype of the Q.PEAK DUO G10 Poseidon, a new floating solar product model. The Poseidon series is an eco-friendly, highly durable product designed for high-temperature and high-humidity environments, having passed internal testing standards more stringent than the reinforced KS certification requirements, including exposure to 85°C and 85% relative humidity for over 3,000 hours.
The agrivoltaic solar modules, which are attracting interest as a new source of income for farmers, will also be exhibited. Agrivoltaics refers to the simultaneous operation of farming and power generation. These agrivoltaic-specific modules are smaller than general modules, preserving the photosynthesis amount necessary for crop growth while undergoing high-durability eco-friendly inspections to minimize environmental impact on crops. Hanwha Q CELLS will introduce agrivoltaic power generation projects that provide dual benefits in crop production and income stability, and will guide customers on total services including financing, insurance, and construction necessary for the projects.
In the Next-Generation Technology Zone, visitors can see the prototype of the tandem cell with perovskite stacking, a next-generation cell that Hanwha Q CELLS is leading the industry in researching. The perovskite layer on top absorbs short-wavelength light, while the silicon solar cell underneath absorbs additional long-wavelength light, achieving higher efficiency compared to conventional silicon solar cells. While the theoretical efficiency limit of silicon solar cells is about 29%, research institutions predict that tandem cells can reach theoretical efficiencies of up to 44%.
Additionally, through a quiz event, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about climate crisis response measures, the value of the Green New Deal, and Hanwha Q CELLS’ business and products.
