One Vietnamese Crew Member Missing from Fishing Vessel off Jeju Coast... Search Continues for Two Days
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters (Jeju) Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] A foreign crew member went missing from a fishing vessel operating off the coast of Jeju, prompting the Coast Guard to launch a search.
According to the Jeju Coast Guard on the 18th, a report was received that a Vietnamese crew member, Mr. B, was missing from fishing vessel A (89 tons, registered in Yeosu, with 13 crew members) around 6:07 a.m. the previous day, after casting nets and dropping anchor about 30 km west of Chuja-do, Jeju City.
The Coast Guard has deployed eight vessels, including patrol ships, to conduct search operations for the second day.
However, adverse weather conditions such as a wind and wave advisory are hampering the search efforts.
