'Pohang Sea & Pohang Canal Romantic Waterway' Theme ... To Receive 1.5 Billion KRW in National Funding Over the Next 3 Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] On the 14th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation announced that Pohang's marine sports were finally selected in the '2021 Regional Specialized Sports Tourism Industry Promotion Contest' they jointly held.
According to Pohang City on the 15th, this contest was conducted for basic local governments through a first round of document evaluation and a second round of on-site and presentation evaluation. Four local governments, including Pohang City, were selected and each will receive up to 1.5 billion KRW in national funding over a maximum of three years.
Pohang City has set a plan to foster the marine leisure sports tourism industry by establishing an adventure platform centered on the Pohang Canal, known as the Venice of Korea, under the theme "Pohang Sea & Pohang Canal: Romantic Waterways."
In this contest, Pohang City explained that the marine leisure facility infrastructure such as Hyeongsan River Water Leisure Town, the marine sports academy focusing on dinghy sailing and windsurfing, and the natural tourist resources like Pohang 12 Views were significant advantages in being selected for this project.
