On the 14th, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced that on the 13th, the two countries held the 1st Agricultural Cooperation Committee under the FTA with Australia's Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. South Korea was represented by Lee Sang-man, Director General of the International Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, and Australia was represented by Chris Tehning, Director General of the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment, who co-chaired the meeting.
First, both sides finalized and signed detailed rules for the operation of the Agricultural Cooperation Committee, which had been prepared through prior working-level consultations. They then introduced their respective agricultural status and major agricultural policies.
They exchanged opinions on future joint cooperation projects. South Korea proposed cooperation in strengthening animal and plant sanitary quarantine capabilities, responding to climate change in the agricultural sector, and smart agriculture. Australia suggested cooperation in animal and plant quarantine and food safety, fisheries resource management, and trade modernization areas such as electronic certification.

Director General Lee said, "We expect that agricultural cooperation activities between the two countries will help address current issues in agriculture such as climate change, animal and plant diseases, and food security."
