Arrival of Pfizer vaccine at Gwangjin-gu Vaccination Center around 10 AM on the 13th... Vaccinations for seniors aged 75 and over to begin from the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] As Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seongap) Vaccination Center prepares to open on the 15th, the COVID-19 vaccines have safely arrived at the center.
On the morning of the 13th around 10 a.m., the vaccines arrived at the center and were directly delivered in refrigerated vehicles maintaining the cold chain under verified delivery procedures with the cooperation of the military and police.
The vaccines that arrived were 3,510 doses of Pfizer. Future supplies will be provided considering the vaccination speed and other factors.
The vaccines are stored in freezers maintaining temperatures between -60 to -90℃ according to management standards, equipped with an automatic system that sounds an alarm if the temperature deviates.
The district, in cooperation with the police, conducts 24-hour patrols and frequently checks the freezer’s power status and temperature maintenance to prevent vaccine disposal and incorrect vaccinations caused by storage errors.
The Gwangjin-gu COVID-19 Vaccination Center is set up at Jayang Gymnasium and will begin vaccinations on the 15th for about 20,000 people, including seniors aged 75 and older (born on or before December 31, 1946) who made prior reservations through the local community centers, as well as workers and residents of elderly care facilities.

Mayor Kim Seongap of Gwangjin-gu said, “Although we are suppressing community infections through compliance with quarantine rules and proactive preemptive testing, there remains a risk of silent transmission due to accumulated asymptomatic confirmed cases and cases with unclear infection sources in the community. I believe that once the Gwangjin-gu Vaccination Center is fully operational, we will quickly end COVID-19 and restore our healthy smiles and precious daily lives.”
