"Returning to Farming and Rural Living! Try Living First, Then Decide"
2-6 Month Pre-Living Program Operated at 15 Locations in the Province
Applications Available on the Rural Return and Migration Comprehensive Center Website
Expected to Reduce Trial and Error for Returnees and Support Successful Settlement
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do announced that it will actively promote the newly introduced “Living in the Countryside” project this year for urban residents who wish to return to farming or rural living.
“Living in the Countryside” is a project that provides urban residents with the opportunity to live in rural areas for an extended period before actually returning to farming or rural living, allowing them to experience jobs, daily life, and interact with local residents to encourage successful settlement.
Participants can receive support related to all aspects of rural life through village-specific programs, including agricultural technology education, local job experience, resident interaction, and regional exploration.
There is no separate participation fee, and participants receive housing (utilizing rural experience and recreation villages, etc.) and training programs for a period ranging from 2 months up to 6 months. Those who diligently participate in the program for 15 days per month can also receive a training allowance of 300,000 KRW.
Fifteen operating villages in 10 cities and counties within the province (Miryang, Uiryeong, Changnyeong, Goseong, Namhae, Hadong, Sancheong, Hamyang, Geochang, Hapcheon) have been selected, and applications are currently being accepted. The recruitment period varies by village.
Eligible participants are urban residents aged 18 or older living in other cities or regions, and applicants cannot apply to operating villages in cities or counties adjacent to their place of residence.
Those interested can apply by signing up as members on the Rural Return and Rural Living Comprehensive Center website and then applying through the “Apply” menu on the dedicated “Living in the Countryside” page.
