Twitter Builds Its First Nest in Africa
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Social media company Twitter has opened its first office in Africa, located in Ghana.
Jack Dorsey, Twitter's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), announced this on his Twitter account on the 12th (local time).
Twitter is hiring 11 people in Ghana for roles in engineering, marketing, and communications. The Ghana office will operate under a remote work policy.
Twitter stated that it chose Ghana as its first entry point into Africa because it "supports freedom of the press and freedom of expression on the internet."

Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, also said on Twitter that this marks "the starting point of cooperation between Ghana and Twitter," and that "Twitter's entry will play an important role in Ghana's technological development."
