Honam University Korean Language Institute Conducts Korean Traditional Culture Experience for International Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Honam University Korean Language Education Center announced on the morning of the 12th that it held an event for foreign trainees to experience traditional Korean culture and explore historic sites at Muyangseowon in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
Twelve trainees from China and Indonesia learned how to play the drum along with the chuiimsae (exclamations), jangdan (rhythmic patterns) of pansori, and then sang pansori, fully enjoying the charm and excitement of traditional Korean music.
Sun Huayao, a Chinese trainee who participated in the event, said, "Learning and experiencing traditional Korean instruments and music firsthand gave me an opportunity to understand Korean traditional culture more deeply."

Yoon Young, director of Honam University Korean Language Education Center, said, "Although experience activities are limited due to COVID-19, we will actively support international students to grow as next-generation global leaders by providing various small-scale experiential opportunities and exploration programs so that they can interact with members of Korean society."
