Opening of a Youth Mall Anchor Store at Yeosu City Kkumtteurak Mall
Chef Edward Kwon Shares 'Secret Recipe' as Cheongnyeon Rollkatsu Opens in Yeosu
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 12th that Cheongnyeon Rollkatsu Yeosu Branch, supported by the Youth Mall Core Store Development Project, started its first business on the 9th at Yeosu Jungang Market's ‘Kkumtteurak Mall’.
The ‘Youth Mall Core Store Development Support Project’ was established to revitalize youth malls by utilizing vacant stores in youth malls, collaborating with famous chefs to develop core stores, and supporting startups.
Among youth malls nationwide, five locations including Yeosu, Daejeon, Suwon, Chuncheon, and Pyeongtaek were selected. Youth aspiring entrepreneurs were recruited and selected through a total of four stages of survival public auditions. The selected youth received recipes and techniques from star chef Edward Kwon and opened core stores.
Youth mall core stores receive startup support funds of up to 40 million KRW for rent, interior, and promotional marketing costs.
The opening event was held simply with minimal attendees due to COVID-19, and a meeting was also arranged to discuss continuous cooperation and support for youth mall revitalization among the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Yeosu City, Small Enterprise and Market Service, and the Youth Merchant Development Foundation.
A city official said, “We congratulate Edward Kwon’s Cheongnyeon Rollkatsu Yeosu Branch on its opening and hope that the core store development project will be an opportunity to bring more vitality to Kkumtteurak Mall.”
