Suncheon City Conducts Comprehensive Inspection of Flammable Material Handling Businesses for Fire Prevention
8 Violating Businesses Caught, Notified by Suncheon Fire Station
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 12th that it conducted a comprehensive inspection of paint stores handling highly flammable materials such as paint, thinner, and gas, as well as gas filling stations with explosion risks, to prevent accidents such as fires and explosions involving hazardous materials.
The city prioritized urgent inspections of 11 locations that had violations corrected during last year's inspection. From the 29th of last month to the 9th of this month, over a two-week period, a comprehensive inspection was conducted on 48 paint and thinner handling businesses and 10 gas filling stations within the jurisdiction. Eight businesses violating regulations, such as storing hazardous materials above the designated quantity, were reported to the Suncheon Fire Station.
The city plans to continue conducting hazardous materials guidance and enforcement throughout the year in cooperation with the Suncheon Fire Station, designating it as a special fire investigation period.

A Suncheon City official stated, “We will regularly inspect paint stores storing large quantities of flammable materials and gas filling stations with explosion risks to ensure they have proper safety facilities and store and handle hazardous materials below the designated quantities.”
