Analysis of Airline Ticket Purchase Trends... Preference for Resorts and Plans for Multiple Short-Term Trips
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Interpark announced on the 12th that the number of customers who purchased the 'Frozen Air Ticket,' which freezes real-time airfare prices in preparation for the post-COVID era, has surpassed 12,000. This result is based on sales data collected from March 8 to 31.
The 'Frozen Air Ticket' is a promotion that pre-sells short-haul round-trip air tickets in the form of vouchers, valid for one year from the official date when overseas travel becomes possible. The airfare can be used at the initial purchase price without any price changes for one year from the date it becomes available.
Analysis of the Frozen Air Ticket purchase data by Interpark revealed that the most preferred travel destination was Guam (34%), followed by Vietnam (17%), with Japan (17%) and Taiwan (10%) ranking third and fourth respectively.
Regarding preferred travel durations, 3 days (66%) was the most favored, followed by 5 days (19%) and 4 days (15%), with more than half of the customers preferring the shortest duration of 3 days. Additionally, the number of tickets purchased per person was higher for those buying 2 or more tickets (76%) compared to those purchasing just 1 ticket (24%). The distribution by quantity purchased was 1 ticket (24%), 2 tickets (36%), 3 tickets (14%), 4 tickets (22%), and 5 or more tickets (4%).

This is interpreted as demand for multiple short overseas trips. An Interpark representative explained, "Due to the regret of not being able to travel abroad for a long time, customers want to travel multiple times," adding, "Among customers who purchased 5 or more tickets, some bought up to 13 tickets, indicating a strong desire to travel abroad repeatedly."
