People Power Party Initiates Disciplinary Procedure Against Lawmaker Song Eon-seok for Assaulting Party Official
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] The People Power Party is initiating disciplinary procedures against Assemblyman Song Eon-seok, who has been embroiled in controversy over 'assaulting a party official.'
Acting Representative Joo Ho-young stated on the 11th, "This week, according to the party constitution and regulations, we will refer the matter to the Ethics Committee and proceed with the procedures."
Depending on the Ethics Committee's decision, the level of discipline?such as expulsion, recommendation to withdraw from the party, suspension of party membership rights, or a warning?will be determined. The highest level of discipline, expulsion, is finalized after the Ethics Committee's resolution, approval by the Supreme Council, and a two-thirds majority vote of the total members at the party assembly.
Assemblyman Cho Kyung-tae demanded strong disciplinary action on social networking services (SNS), saying, "Assemblyman Song's wrongful words and actions have disappointed the people who supported our party."
