[Asia Economy Reporter Joselgina] As LG Electronics withdraws from the mobile phone business, employees of its affiliate LG Uplus will be able to use smartphones from manufacturers other than LG Electronics as their work phones.
According to industry sources on the 11th, LG Uplus labor and management are currently discussing a proposal to allow the use of devices other than LG Electronics phones as work phones during recent collective bargaining negotiations.
An LG Uplus official said, "There was a request from the labor union to allow the use of smartphones other than LG Electronics," adding, "We are in discussions."
It is not mandatory for LG Uplus employees to use LG Electronics smartphones. However, most employees have used LG Electronics smartphones to receive communication fee support from the company.
