Professor Kim Jeong-a of Gwangju University Holds Classical Academy Concert with Her Children
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] An interesting concert where you can meet classical musicians while traveling through European cities will be held.
According to Gwangju University on the 9th, Professor Kim Jeong-ah of the Department of Music will perform and provide commentary at the ‘2021 Classical Academy with Children,’ which will be held every Saturday at 7 p.m. from the 10th of this month to the 1st of next month at the An Seong-hyun Music Hall in Naju, Jeollanam-do.
This concert, themed ‘A Musical Journey with a Pianist,’ offers an experience of traveling through cities in Italy, Germany, Austria, and France, providing an easy and enjoyable way to learn about classical music.
In the first concert, Professor Kim will perform Vivaldi’s ‘Spring’ from The Four Seasons on violin and piano, set in Venice, Italy.
Also, while traveling through Leipzig, Germany, she will present Bach’s ‘Invention No. 1 in C major,’ ‘Air on the G String,’ and ‘Goldberg Variations’ along with interesting stories. Notably, Bach’s pieces will be performed on the spinet, a keyboard instrument widely used from the 15th to 18th centuries.
In the second concert, attendees will meet Mozart and Beethoven, representatives of the Classical era, in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria, with hidden stories of the two composers and their works presented through performance and video.
The journey concludes in Paris with stories of love and music between Chopin, the poet of the piano, and Liszt, a star pianist of the era. Representative works such as Chopin’s ‘Raindrop Prelude’ and ‘Nocturne,’ as well as Liszt’s ‘Hungarian Rhapsody,’ will be presented with commentary.
Since 2010, Professor Kim has been dedicated to developing classical music programs and various performance contents that families can enjoy together, including the annual children’s concert ‘Fairy Tales Heard on the Piano with Commentary.’
