Boseong-gun Secures 19.3 Billion KRW in National Funding for 'Drainage Improvement Agricultural and Forestry Project' Selection
Dogae and Ansim District Drainage Improvement Project to Start Next Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Cheon-seok] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced on the 8th that the reclamation areas between Miryeok-myeon and Deungnyang-myeon have been confirmed as new districts for the drainage improvement project.
The newly selected districts are two locations: Dogae District (9.8 billion KRW / Boseong-gun) and Ansim District (9.5 billion KRW / Korea Rural Community Corporation Boseong Branch), with the entire project cost of 19.3 billion KRW secured from national funds, and the project is planned to be completed by 2024.
The Miryeok Dogae District (75ha) is a lowland area adjacent to the Boseong River, where flooding damage occurs habitually during heavy rains every year, and the Deungnyang Ansim District (192ha) is located at the lower part of the Yedang reclaimed farmland, where flooding damage is frequent.
The county plans to promote projects such as installing drainage pump stations, drainage channels, and land reclamation through the drainage improvement project to prevent flooding of farmland, protect crops from damage, and promote stable farming activities, thereby greatly contributing to increasing farmers' income.
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, "It is fortunate that the drainage improvement project is being implemented in the habitual flooding areas, resolving a long-standing issue for local residents," and added, "We will do our best to prepare for the project so that it can start promptly and contribute to increasing residents' income by establishing a safe farming environment."

Meanwhile, Boseong-gun has been actively advocating for the drainage improvement project to Jeollanam-do and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs since last year to alleviate the difficulties of farmers caused by farmland flooding. It has also been leading disaster response and safety infrastructure establishment as a model local government for disaster management, winning the Jeonnam Disaster Safety Award for three consecutive years.
