Deputy Minister Jo Kyung-sik of the Ministry of Science and ICT Visits 5G+ Smart Factory
[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] Cho Kyung-sik, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited Hanmi Precision Chemical's smart factory on the 8th as part of on-site visits for 5G+ sector-specific policies.
According to the Ministry of Science and ICT, this is part of on-site communication efforts to make 2021 the inaugural year for establishing a 5G+ convergence ecosystem.
Hanmi Precision Chemical, visited by Vice Minister Cho on this day, is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company that participated in the Giga Korea project until last year and built a 5G smart factory. They demonstrated 5G smart factory solutions such as AR control (digital twin) and predictive maintenance introduced in the raw pharmaceutical manufacturing process.
During the subsequent meeting, companies participating in the 5G smart factory demonstration project discussed the difficulties they experience on-site and policy suggestions.

The Ministry of Science and ICT stated, "To achieve 5G+ outcomes that the public can feel, we will not stop our steps in communicating with policy sites," and added, "This on-site visit was conducted under thorough quarantine measures including pre- and post-visit disinfection, hand sanitization, and temperature checks in compliance with COVID-19 social distancing guidelines."
