Damyang 'Guksu Street' Transforms into a Pleasant Area... Vehicle Traffic Restricted Starting This Month
For Pedestrian Safety and a Pleasant Environment, Creating Car-Free Streets
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang-gun's famous spot, 'Guksu Street,' will be transformed into a car-free pleasant street until October.
According to Damyang-gun on the 7th, the county has been restricting vehicles on a 150m section of Guksu Street every year from April to October since last year to create a safe walking environment and a pleasant street.
Guksu Street in Damyang, lined along Gwanbangjerim, was formed as a street frequently visited by merchants and bamboo craft workers who used to visit the Jukmul Market long ago.
The restriction hours are from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays, and from 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM on weekends and public holidays.

A county official said, "We implemented traffic restrictions for the safety and pleasant environment of everyone using Guksu Street," adding, "We will minimize inconvenience caused by the operation through publicity such as installing guide signs in the future."
