Maintenance of Streetlights and Street Trees Around Bus Stops in Songpa-gu
Complete Overhaul of Surrounding Facilities Threatening Safety During Bus Boarding and Alighting by September
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) will extensively renovate facilities such as streetlights and street trees around bus stops that obstruct bus boarding and alighting by September this year.
As a result of inspecting obstacles at bus stops in the district, a total of 331 bus stops and 793 facilities including streetlights, street trees, green belts, utility poles, and fire hydrants were found to be installed in locations that interfere with bus boarding and alighting.
Accordingly, the district plans to focus on renovating the areas around bus stops to ensure the safety of bus passengers.
To this end, Songpa-gu actively coordinated with Seoul City and secured a budget of 245 million KRW.
For the 2021 project, basic and detailed design services for 182 obstacles at 64 bus stops will be conducted by April, with renovation construction orders placed between April and May, and construction completed by September.
Bus signs and boarding platforms that determine bus stopping locations will be relocated to ensure no obstacles are near bus doors.
Additionally, facilities such as streetlights, security lights, and street trees that block bus boarding and alighting will be extensively renovated to secure passengers' visibility and safety space.
