Gimhae City in Gyeongnam Province and Coupang have signed an investment agreement worth 19 billion KRW in Gimhae as part of an investment agreement for a logistics center in the Gyeongnam area.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that it has signed an investment agreement worth 19 billion KRW with Coupang Corp., a global e-commerce company, jointly with Gyeongsangnam-do.
The signing ceremony was attended by Governor Kim Kyung-soo of Gyeongsangnam-do, Park Dae-jun, CEO of Coupang's New Business Division, Heo Seong-gon, Mayor of Gimhae, Heo Seong-mu, Mayor of Changwon, Ha Seung-cheol, Commissioner of Busanjinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, as well as officials from various institutions and companies.
According to the agreement, Coupang will invest 19 billion KRW in Daegam-ri, Sangdong-myeon, Gimhae to build a state-of-the-art smart logistics center covering 27,857㎡ (8,427 pyeong) and will create 800 new jobs, pledging to contribute to revitalizing the local economy and creating quality employment.
Coupang stated that it plans to continue investing in regional logistics hubs, starting with large-scale investments in Gimhae and Changwon, key centers of the Gyeongnam logistics network, to establish an innovative nationwide logistics system.
CEO Park said, “I am truly pleased to establish a new logistics center together with Gyeongsangnam-do and contribute to creating thousands of local jobs. We will build independent logistics centers across the country to support balanced regional development and provide better services to all customers.”
