Police Conduct Search and Seizure at Army Headquarters Over 'Corruption in Delivery of Surveillance Equipment' (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] On the 6th, the police conducted a search and seizure at the Army Headquarters in Gyeryong-si, Chungnam, in connection with allegations of corruption in the supply of coastal surveillance equipment to the Army.
The Major Crime Investigation Division of the National Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Bureau announced that from 9:30 a.m. that day, they were executing a search warrant on the Army Headquarters' project management department.
The police had previously conducted search and seizure operations on the residences of the equipment suppliers and individuals involved in the case on the 1st.

Last year, the military carried out the "Surveillance Modernization Project," installing a total of 215 surveillance devices along the national coastline. It is reported that the police are investigating suspicions that the supplier imported the equipment from overseas and disguised it as domestically produced before supplying it.
