On the Last Day of Election Campaign, Basic Income Party Banner Damaged Again: "Possible Planned Crime"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] The banner of Shin Ji-hye, the Basic Income Party candidate, was found damaged on the last day of the April 7 by-election campaign, the 6th. Due to the consecutive vandalism of Shin's campaign banners and posters, Shin's camp suspects the possibility of a planned crime. On the 31st of last month, a banner hung in Gangdong-gu, Seoul was damaged, and on the previous day (the 5th), a campaign poster was vandalized.
Shin's camp stated in a press release that “At 6:30 a.m. on the day, a citizen in Sillim-dong, Seoul directly witnessed a suspect damaging the banner and took photos, then reported it to Shin's campaign.” The banner contained the phrase, “Pro-Moon VS Anti-Moon VS Basic Income, where will you vote?”
Shin said, “Due to the continuous damage to banners and posters, it feels difficult to conduct a fair election campaign,” and added, “Since something sharp like a knife was prepared from early morning and used to cut, it can only be seen as a planned crime.”
