Foundation for Resolving 'Farmland Flood Damage' in Damyang, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, and Jangseong Areas
Assemblyman Lee Gae-ho Secures 64 Billion Won Budget for Drainage Improvement and Facility Renovation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Gaeho, a member of the National Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea·Damyang Hampyeong Yeonggwang Jangseong), announced on the 6th that he secured a budget of 64 billion KRW for drainage improvement and water facility renovation in 11 districts of Damyang, Hampyeong, Yeonggwang, and Jangseong.
The areas where drainage improvement projects are being promoted include Damyang District in Damyang County, which has been designated as a newly initiated district with a total project cost of 5.2 billion KRW. In the basic survey areas, 8.4 billion KRW will be invested in Damyang Eungyong District, 15 billion KRW in Hampyeong School District, and 6 billion KRW in Jangseong Sinheung District, where drainage facilities such as drainage pumps and drainage gates will be installed in farmland affected by flooding.
Additionally, for new water facility renovation projects, national funds totaling 29.6 billion KRW will be invested in seven districts: Damyang Gwansang District (4 billion KRW), Damyang Geumwol District (4.9 billion KRW), Damyang Daeseong District (4 billion KRW), Hampyeong Daedong 2 District (4 billion KRW), Yeonggwang Yaksu District (4 billion KRW), Jangseong Suyang District (4.5 billion KRW), and Jangseong Buk District (4 billion KRW). Through the repair and reinforcement of aging reservoirs and other water facilities, disaster prevention and improvement of farming convenience are expected.

Assemblyman Lee said, “Flooding damage to farmland continues every year due to the monsoon and floods, so continuous maintenance of drainage facilities is necessary,” and added, “I will do my best to secure budgets for the maintenance and establishment of agricultural infrastructure so that farmers can engage in farming with peace of mind.”
