Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Announces Contest for Regional Humanities Content Incorporating Digital Technology
Online Exhibitions, Virtual Reality and Game-Linked Content, 3D Immersive User Environments, etc.
On the 6th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency announced that they will support the development of content that spreads humanities knowledge and values by integrating digital technology with local humanities resources. This is part of the 'Digital Humanities New Deal' in response to the media environment being reorganized around digital technology. Humanities researchers, organizations, universities, research institutes, libraries, museums, and publishers can participate. Local humanities resources can be researched and surveyed to develop online exhibitions, virtual reality and game-linked content, 3D immersive user environments, interactive application-type e-books, platforms, electronic maps, and more.

Applicants are free to establish specific project plans, including detailed themes and forms of digital content. Eight selected projects will receive research and development funding of up to 50 million KRW annually in the first phase. The second phase of support will proceed next year after a mid-term evaluation. Applications can be submitted via email from the 13th to the 26th. The selection results will be announced on the 20th of next month.
