Guaranteeing Voting Hours for Geumcheon-gu Office Employees and Affiliated Organization Workers in the April 7 By-election
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) will grant voting time to district employees, field workers, and employees of affiliated organizations so that they can exercise their voting rights on the Seoul mayoral by-election held on April 7.
The Public Official Election Act states, "Employers must guarantee the necessary time requested by workers to vote."
Accordingly, since the April 7 by-election is held on a weekday and not a public holiday, the district announced that it will provide sufficient time (within 2 hours) on the voting day to increase voter turnout and guarantee voting rights for district employees and employees of affiliated organizations.
As the voting day is a working day, the district plans to allocate voting time before and after commuting hours so that field workers can actively participate in voting.
