[Photo] Jung Won-oh, Seongdong District Mayor, Declares Support for Myanmar Democratization Movement
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 5th, Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, held a press conference in front of the Myanmar Embassy in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to declare support for the Myanmar democratization movement.
Jung Won-oh, a member of the Korean Human Rights Cities Council and Mayor of Seongdong-gu, strongly condemned the Myanmar military's killing of civilians amid the ongoing massacre since the military coup in February this year, and urged the immediate cessation of these acts.
The Korean Human Rights Cities Council is a consultative body among local governments nationwide aimed at realizing human rights cities through policy exchange and mutual cooperation for the protection and promotion of human rights. Currently, 22 local governments, including Seongdong-gu, are members.
