India's New COVID-19 Cases Reach 100,000... Double in 5 Days

India's Ministry of Health announced on the 5th (local time) that "the number of new cases is 103,558, the highest ever," according to major foreign media reports.
Accordingly, India's cumulative number of confirmed cases has surged to 12,589,067, ranking third in the world after the United States and Brazil.
The death toll increased by 478 to 165,101.

The number of new cases in India began to decline after approaching 100,000 on September 17 last year. It decreased to 8,000?9,000 in February, then rose to the 20,000 range on the 11th of last month and has been surging since.
