Yongin City Introduces 'Nodong Anjeon Jikimi' Safety Guardians
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is introducing the 'Labor Safety Keeper' system from this month to prevent industrial accidents and safety incidents at workplaces.
The Labor Safety Keeper system was introduced to have keepers, who hold certifications in construction (industrial) safety, conduct frequent inspections of small-scale construction and manufacturing sites to monitor worker safety rules, personal protective equipment usage, industrial safety and health standards, safety accident prevention measures, and appropriate staffing, and to guide improvements or supplements.
To this end, Yongin City selected the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions Yongin Branch as the project executor in February and hired four keepers last month.
Starting from mid-this month, they will be actively deployed to sites, request supervision from the labor office for defective sites, continuously check compliance, create an environment where workers can work safely, and minimize safety blind spots.
