Various Policies to Create a Child-Friendly Environment for Overcoming the 'Low Birthrate Crisis'

View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Jangheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 2nd that County Governor Jeong Jong-sun participated in the "Let's Overcome Low Birthrate Together National Po(4)ham Relay Challenge" campaign on the 1st.
This challenge began in February in Chungnam Province as a national participation campaign to actively join in creating a "Korea that works together, cares together, protects together, and is happy together" through solidarity and cooperation to overcome the national crisis brought by low birthrate.
The challenge proceeds by posting photos with the low birthrate overcoming catchphrase on personal SNS and then nominating two next participants within a week.
Governor Jeong Jong-sun said, "Jangheung-gun has a significantly higher total fertility rate compared to other regions, giving great hope for population measures," and added, "We will actively strive to overcome the national crisis caused by low birthrate through various policies that allow children to be raised with peace of mind."
Governor Jeong nominated Baek Doo-hyun, County Governor of Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, and Kim Seong-ho, Director of Jangheung Office of Education, as the next participants and requested their active participation in this challenge.

Jangheung-gun, a UNICEF-certified child-friendly city, recorded a total fertility rate of 1.77 in 2020 (the average number of children a woman is expected to have during her childbearing years (ages 15-49)) announced by Statistics Korea, achieving the second highest rate nationwide.
