[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] On the 2nd, the number of new domestic COVID-19 cases was recorded at 558, marking the third consecutive day with cases in the 500s.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that as of midnight on the day, there were 558 new domestic COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 104,194. Regarding the infection routes, 533 cases were locally transmitted, and 25 were imported cases.
By region, 165 cases were confirmed in Seoul and 156 in Gyeonggi Province. In Incheon, 22 people tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total cases in the metropolitan area to 343. In non-metropolitan areas, Busan reported 35 cases, still a high number, followed by Gyeongbuk with 28, Daejeon and Chungbuk each with 19, Gyeongnam 18, Daegu 17, Jeonbuk 15, Gangwon 10, Sejong and Chungnam 8 each, Ulsan 7, Jeju 4, and Gwangju and Jeonnam 1 each. Additional cases were reported in all regions.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths increased by 2 from the previous day, reaching 1,737. The number of critically ill patients decreased by 6 to 101. The number of patients who were declared recovered and released from isolation increased by 422 to 95,861.
On the day, the number of suspected case tests reported was 40,992, and the number of tests conducted at temporary screening clinics in the metropolitan area was 33,588. At the metropolitan temporary screening clinics, 72 confirmed cases were identified.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team reported that as of midnight, 36,125 people received their first dose, bringing the total number of people who completed the first dose to 914,069. The number of new second-dose vaccinations was 6,881, with a cumulative total of 19,855. So far, 834,226 people have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, and 79,843 have received the Pfizer vaccine.

Among the newly reported adverse reactions, there was 1 suspected case of anaphylaxis and 2 suspected severe cases. Deaths increased by 2.
