Fire Agency to Hold Written Exam for Firefighter Recruitment on the 3rd... Competition Ratio 10.75 to 1
Conducted at 102 Test Centers in 17 Cities and Provinces Nationwide
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The National Fire Agency announced on the 2nd that the written exam for new firefighter recruitment nationwide will be held on the 3rd from 10:00 AM to 11:40 AM at 102 test centers across 17 cities and provinces nationwide.
This exam saw 47,697 applicants competing for 4,434 positions (excluding aviation and legal fields), resulting in a competition ratio of 10.75 to 1.
This year's recruitment is the first nationwide new recruitment conducted by the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency following the transition of firefighters to national public officials. From this year, the application submission and final announcement of successful candidates will be handled by the National Fire Agency, while the written and interview exams will be operated by each city and provincial fire headquarters. Due to the change in the exam administration and application submission authority from the city and provincial fire headquarters to the National Fire Agency, the residency restriction for the test location has been removed, allowing applicants to take the exam in their preferred work region (city/province), which is a change from the previous year.
The exam questions and provisional answers will be published on the 119 Gosi website at 4:00 PM on the 3rd, and objections to the exam questions will be accepted until midnight on the 4th. Written exam scores will be released at 2:00 PM on the 30th, and an objection period for individual scores will be held until 6:00 PM on May 3rd, followed by the announcement of successful candidates for the written exam on May 6th.
Meanwhile, the National Fire Agency has allowed COVID-19 confirmed cases and self-quarantined individuals to take the exam and has prepared 53 separate test centers nationwide for this purpose. On the exam day, examinees with a high fever (37.5℃ or higher) will take the exam in a separate isolation room prepared at the test center. Additionally, thorough COVID-19 prevention measures will be implemented, including single entry points to test centers, temperature checks before entering, mandatory mask-wearing during the exam, staggered dismissal after the exam, and disinfection of exam rooms before and after the exam.
