Blue House Holds NSC Standing Committee Meeting... Discusses Korea-US Diplomacy and North Korea Strategy Preparation
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] The Blue House held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) on the 1st to review the security situation in the Korean Peninsula region and agreed on the need to strengthen cooperative efforts with related countries for the establishment of peace.
The Blue House stated that the meeting was chaired by Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong while National Security Office Director Suh Hoon visited the United States for a trilateral security director consultation between Korea, the U.S., and Japan.
The attendees particularly highly evaluated the close consultations between the two countries through the Korea-U.S. Foreign and Defense Ministers' Meeting and the National Security Office Director's visit to the U.S.
The Blue House conveyed that based on this, they agreed to strive for the prompt preparation of a comprehensive North Korea strategy.
The attendees also strongly condemned the Myanmar military and police for exercising unacceptable violence, including casualties among their own citizens, regarding the Myanmar situation, and urged an immediate halt to the bloodshed.
