District Mayor Kim Seong-gap Visits Jayang Gymnasium, Site of Gwangjin-gu Vaccination Center, Reviews Operational Preparations... Full-Scale Operation to Begin on the 15th After Drill at 9 AM on the 8th
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] On the 1st, Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, visited Jayang Gymnasium, where the Gwangjin-gu vaccination center is located, to check the status of operational preparations.
The Gwangjin-gu vaccination center has currently completed facility installation work and the delivery of equipment such as ultra-low temperature freezers. After conducting a simulation drill at 9 a.m. on the 8th, full-scale operations will begin on the 15th.
On this day, Mayor Kim inspected the overall facility structure, the post-vaccination waiting area, and the vaccine storage area, and checked the condition of the ultra-low temperature freezer and the backup freezer.
Additionally, he received reports on personnel matters by sector (medical and administrative), transportation of residents, and the vaccination center’s quarantine plan.
Mayor Kim said, “We must demonstrate our vaccination response capabilities to eliminate anxiety about the vaccine and build trust among residents,” adding, “Each institution is requested to thoroughly prepare and cooperate devotedly to ensure smooth vaccine transportation, storage, and administration, as well as prompt emergency measures for adverse reactions.”
The district aims to vaccinate 70% of all residents (242,246 people) within this year and plans to respond swiftly in accordance with government policies.
First, vaccinations will begin targeting about 20,000 people, including seniors aged 75 and older (born before December 31, 1946), and workers and residents of elderly care facilities.
The medical staff team consists of 4 doctors, 8 nurses, and 1 emergency medical technician, capable of vaccinating 600 people per day. This will be expanded to 3 teams in the second half of the year.
In preparation for emergencies, Gwangjin Fire Station will support nurses, emergency medical technicians, and ambulances, and will cooperate with Konkuk University Hospital to ensure immediate response.
The district plans to conduct full disinfection daily after the vaccination center’s operation ends. Temperature checks and hand sanitization will be conducted at entrances and reception desks, and medical staff will wear face shields and protective clothing, prioritizing safety.
In cooperation with Gwangjin Fire Station, fire response drills will be conducted. Police will be stationed during the day, and military units will be present at night to protect the center.
Furthermore, the district has secured shuttle buses to support transportation from community service centers to the vaccination center for residents’ convenience.
The vaccination targets for the first half of the year in Gwangjin-gu are: in April, residents and workers of vulnerable facilities, staff of special education and childcare facilities, school and care space personnel, and seniors aged 75 and older; in May, seniors aged 65 to 74.
In June, the targets include daycare, kindergarten, and elementary school teachers, chronic disease patients, healthcare workers and essential social workers, and caregivers for the disabled and elderly.
