Damyang-gun Launches Full-Scale 'Clean Jeonnam Top Village Project'
Selected 46 Villages, Annual Project Funding of 3 Million Won for 3 Years
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Damyang County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 1st that it will officially implement the ‘Clean Jeonnam Prime Village Project,’ a key policy project promoted by Jeollanam-do.
The Clean Jeonnam Prime Village Project is a resident-led village development project in which residents directly participate and take the lead.
Jeollanam-do selects 1,000 villages annually and supports each village with 3 million KRW per year for three years, totaling 9 million KRW.
Jeollanam-do held the Clean Jeonnam Prime Village Pan-Citizen Launch Ceremony on the 30th of last month and announced the participating villages. Damyang County had a total of 46 villages selected to carry out village beautification projects.
At the launch ceremony held at the Kim Dae-jung Auditorium in Jeollanam-do Provincial Office, Cheongchon Village in Gasamunhak-myeon was selected as an exemplary case, and Village Chief Kim Jong-wook gave a meaningful presentation on the village beautification success story.

A county official said, “Damyang has been steadily promoting the Village Autonomy Council pilot project, leading village support projects, and resident tax-utilized resident autonomy specialization projects by enacting the Resident Autonomy Activation Ordinance in 2017,” adding, “We expect that this Clean Jeonnam Prime Village Project will have a synergistic effect on realizing Damyang-style resident autonomy.”
