Black Yak Launches 'Plustic Collection' Made from PET Bottles
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Outdoor brand Black Yak launched the eco-friendly product line "PLUStIC Collection," made from recycled PET bottles used domestically, on the 1st.
PLUStIC is a portmanteau of "Plus" and "Plastic," meaning that recycling plastic adds a positive impact to the Earth. It is also the name of the eco-friendly material developed by BYN Black Yak in collaboration with the government, local governments, and related companies to establish the first domestic resource circulation system for PET bottles used in Korea. By combining K-rPET recycled fibers with outdoor technology, the collection embodies both "eco-friendliness" and "functionality."
This collection includes a variety of items such as T-shirts, jackets, and pants, with each product recycling a minimum of 15 to over 30 PET bottles based on 500ml bottles, depending on the type.
The representative products, the "BAC Chiak3 T-shirt" and "BAC Seorak3 T-shirt," are long-sleeve and short-sleeve T-shirts made from recycled fibers using PET bottles, enhanced with cooling technology. Black Yak's proprietary technology, which uses xylitol to absorb heat upon moisture contact, allows these shirts to be worn comfortably throughout the summer.
