Launch of Chonnam National University Action Alliance for Ending Myanmar Military Rule and Restoring Democracy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Several organizations inside and outside Chonnam National University have formed the "Chonnam National University Action Alliance for Ending Myanmar Military Rule and Restoring Democracy" (hereinafter Action Alliance) and are launching solidarity and support activities for the people of Myanmar.
According to Chonnam National University on the 31st, the Action Alliance will hold its launching ceremony at 11 a.m. on the 1st of next month at the 5·18 Plaza on campus to end Myanmar's military rule and restore democracy.
To this end, the Action Alliance has hung an 18-meter-tall giant banner supporting Myanmar's democratic uprising on both sides of the annex of the Central Library, and installed a free bulletin board in front of the building so that university members and citizens can directly attach post-its expressing their wishes for Myanmar's democracy.
In addition, a photo zone was set up in front of the large "Gwangju People's Uprising Map" painted on the wall of Education Building No. 1, providing various spaces for support and solidarity activities.
Participants can take 인증 shots with these as backgrounds and post them on their personal social networks (SNS) or the Action Alliance's Instagram and Facebook to express solidarity, support, and empathy to the people of Myanmar and global citizens.
The Chonnam National University Action Alliance includes nine representative organizations of the university: the 5·18 Research Institute, the Professors' Association, the Professors and Researchers Council, the Staff Association, the Civil Servants' Union branch, the University Labor Union branch, the Teaching Assistants' Council, the Alumni Association, and the Democratic Alumni Association.

A representative of the Chonnam National University Action Alliance said, "At Chonnam National University, the birthplace of the 5·18 Democratic Uprising and the historic site of the May Movement, we are launching support and solidarity activities to stop the sacrifices of the Myanmar people and the atrocities of the military and to restore democracy in Myanmar," adding, "We hope for active participation not only from university members but also from local residents."
