Gurye-gun Supports 122 Talent Development Scholarship Students with 100 Million Won in the First Half of the Year
First Half of the Year Gurye-gun Talent Development Fund Deliberation Committee Meeting
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Mi-seok] Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Su-ho) announced on the 31st that it held a talent development fund review meeting for the advancement of education in Gurye on the 29th, selecting 122 elementary, middle, high school, and university students as scholarship recipients and deciding to provide scholarships totaling 103 million KRW.
For elementary students, 20 scholarships were awarded for arts and physical education and multi-child families; for middle and high school students, 30 scholarships each were awarded for academic excellence, low-income families, and multi-child families; and 45 students were selected based on recommendations from the education superintendent and school principals.
For university students, 20 were selected for academic excellence, 6 for multi-child families, and 1 for multicultural backgrounds, totaling 27 students selected according to the scoring table.
The county plans to provide scholarships to the selected students next month after conducting a duplicate support review with the Korea Student Aid Foundation at this review meeting.
The county approved a change to this year's fund business plan and will support project expenses to promote rural study programs.
Chairman Kim Soon-ho said, “We are actively carrying out educational support projects such as scholarship payments through the talent development fund, fostering prestigious schools, foreign language education, and operating innovative school education districts,” adding, “We will continuously support so that the fund becomes a good foundation for nurturing local talent and operates actively.”

Meanwhile, the Gurye-gun Talent Development Fund was established in 1995 and invests annually in scholarships and educational projects. This year, it plans to support a fund of 1.4 billion KRW for nurturing local talent.
