Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Promotes Measures to Revitalize Local Economy
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 31st that it has taken steps to revitalize the local economy, which has been struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation.
According to the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, under the recognition that "the local economy must thrive for schools to coexist and develop," various measures to revitalize the local economy are being prepared and implemented, including early budget execution, issuance of its own corporate card, and early payment of performance bonuses for teachers and public officials.
First, to support local companies facing management crises due to the prolonged economic downturn, it plans to issue and use its own corporate card (Jeonnam Education Local Coexistence Card), the first among city and provincial offices of education nationwide.
The plan is to mandate that a certain percentage or more of the total budget of frontline schools and affiliated institutions in the province be spent using this card to protect local companies and promote the revitalization of the local economy.
Additionally, the office actively encourages early budget execution in all affiliated institutions and schools and promotes the early use of customized welfare benefits to lead to increased sales for local businesses.
Performance bonuses for approximately 25,000 affiliated teachers and local public officials below grade 6 will also be paid early to inject vitality into the stagnant local economy.
The Office of Education plans to organize a task force for local economic revitalization by dividing the 22 city and county education support offices into four regions early next month, actively encouraging and promoting early budget execution and the purchase of products from local companies.
