Police Refer Netizen Who Revealed Identity of Park Won-soon Sexual Assault Victim to Prosecutors
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] It has been reported that the police have sent one person who disclosed the identity of the sexual violence victim of former Seoul Mayor Park Won-soon on social networking services (SNS) to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
According to the police on the 31st, the Women's and Juvenile Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent Mr. A, who is accused of posting the real name and workplace of the victim of former Mayor Park's sexual violence on Naver Band and blogs (violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes), to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on the 17th.
The women's and civic group coalition "Joint Action on the Sexual Violence Case of the Seoul Mayor's Power," which has supported the victim Ms. B, filed a complaint with the police in October last year against Mr. A and another unidentified person who disclosed the victim's identity online.
A police official explained, "As a result of the investigation, the two unidentified persons are the same individual."
