Mokdong 11 Complex, Final Rejection of Reconstruction Safety Inspection
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] The Mokdong New Town 11 Complex apartment in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, failed to pass the second-stage threshold and was ultimately rejected in the detailed safety inspection for reconstruction.
According to the maintenance industry on the 31st, Mokdong 11 Complex received a C grade in the adequacy review (second detailed safety inspection) conducted by the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, resulting in a determination that reconstruction is not possible. To proceed with reconstruction, a D grade (conditional reconstruction requiring public institution verification) or an E grade (reconstruction confirmed) must be obtained.
Previously, in the first detailed safety inspection conducted by a private company, Mokdong 11 Complex received a D grade, which allows conditional reconstruction. The D grade requires an additional adequacy review by a public institution, but the complex failed to pass this threshold.
The Mokdong New Town complexes had recently passed the first safety inspection consecutively, raising expectations for reconstruction. However, after failing the second safety inspection last year, a red light was turned on for reconstruction efforts. Since all complexes were built in the mid to late 1980s, it is expected that similar safety evaluations will be issued for other complexes as well.

However, following the June 17 measures, on-site safety inspections were strengthened, and in September of the same year, the 9 Complex was ultimately rejected in the second safety inspection.
