[Profile] An Ilhwan, Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs to the Blue House
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] An Il-hwan, the new Chief Economic Secretary of the Blue House, was born in 1961 and graduated from Masan High School in Gyeongnam and Seoul National University with a degree in Trade. He earned a master's degree in Economics from the University of Ottawa in Canada and a doctorate in Public Administration from Catholic University. He is a traditional bureaucrat from the 32nd class of the Korean Civil Service Examination.
He has held key positions at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, including Second Vice Minister, Director of the Budget Office, Chief Budget Review Officer, Social Budget Review Officer, and spokesperson.
Kang Min-seok, spokesperson for the Blue House, described him as "an expert well-versed in finance, budgeting, and the public sector," adding that "he possesses excellent coordination skills across the national economy, smooth communication abilities, and exceptional policy implementation capabilities."
