Vehicle Semiconductor Shortage Shuts Down Hyundai Motor Ulsan Plant 1... Shutdown Scheduled from April 7 to 14
Kona Line, Semiconductor Supply Shortage ... Ioniq 5 Line Missing Some Parts Modules
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] As the shortage of vehicle semiconductors continues, Hyundai Motor Company will ultimately suspend operations at Ulsan Plant 1 temporarily next month.
Hyundai Motor announced on the 30th that it will halt production lines at Ulsan Plant 1 from April 7 to 14.
At the labor union delegates meeting held that day, the company explained the necessity of a shutdown due to difficulties in procuring semiconductors and other parts, and the union agreed, finalizing the suspension.
Ulsan Plant 1, composed of two lines, produces the Kona on Line 1 and the dedicated electric vehicle Ioniq 5 on Line 2.
Hyundai Motor will temporarily suspend Kona production due to shortages of cameras and some parts modules that require many semiconductors.
