Jeongeup-si to Accept Applications for Basic Public Interest Direct Payment Project Starting Next Month 1
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 30th that it will accept applications for the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment Program at the township and myeon offices and dong community centers in agricultural land locations from May 1 to May 31.
The Basic Public Interest Direct Payment Program is a project aimed at stabilizing farmers' income and enhancing the public functions of agriculture and rural areas, and it is divided into small-scale farmer direct payments and area-based direct payments.
Farmers who wish to apply for direct payments can choose to apply for either the small-scale farmer direct payment, which provides 1.2 million KRW annually per farm unit regardless of area, or the area-based direct payment, which is paid proportionally to the area.
Applications must be made only for the actual cultivated area after changes to the agricultural management entity registration information, excluding fallow land where crops cannot be grown.
If the farmland is leased and cultivated, a lease contract must be submitted without fail.
Additionally, the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment Program, which is paid on the condition of compliance with the public functions of agriculture and rural areas, requires farmers and others to comply with 17 implementation items.
If these are not complied with, the direct payment may be reduced by 10% (up to 100%) per compliance item, so applicants must fully understand the preparation and compliance requirements in advance before applying.
This year, to ensure that direct payments are made to farmers who actually farm, a verification system based on agricultural management information, last year's direct payment information, resident registration, land use, and various administrative information will be established to verify a significant portion of eligibility requirements for farmland, farmers, and small-scale farmers at the application and reception stage.
After the application and reception are completed, eligibility and compliance will be checked through on-site inspections from July to September, and the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment will be made in early November.
